CALLIE HIRSCH
Hirsch was raised in the mountainous area of Rockland County, New York, and currently resides in Brooklyn, NY. A sweet mix of wildlife and city life, her work resonates with natural energy and spontaneous action, containing numerous stories revealed. Based deep in natural themes, each painting displays a thoughtful playfulness found in the honesty of seeking out mysteries, the unearthing of ideas.
Her fascination with sea creatures is evident in many of her pieces. The artwork reflects her desire to learn about the life forms that reside in the ocean's depths. Exploring the differences between cuttlefish and octopus, trying to understand the concept of how a jellyfish can actually revert back to their polyp state when threatened or are short of food supply, the mysteries just go on and on. She feels that the ocean is our future, we need to learn from it and to share with others the need to respect and understand its importance.
