The Other Almanac, 2025
The Other Almanac is a reimagining of The Old Farmer's Almanac.
It’s time for a new almanac - one that is deep, meaningful, and bridges across the urban/rural divide in the USA.
The original Almanac is the oldest continuously printed publication in the US. It comprises a popular mix of ancient wisdom, garden advice, poems, jokes, how-to’s, recipes, and calendars. It is, however, still tailored to its traditional audience: largely rural, white and conservative. It eschews stances on anything overtly progressive, be it political, ecological, or social.
The Other Almanac puts right these omissions. Whilst retaining the quirkiness and liveliness of the original. Its pages are filled with buoyant contributions from climate activists, migrant farmworkers, historians, scientists, sex workers, incarcerated painters, borderland midwives and many more.
The publication is a collaboratively made, full-color, new almanac in the tradition of The Old Farmer's Almanac. It's filled with work by incredible writers and artists, such as Michael Pollan, Naomi Klein, Tauba Auerbach, Winona LaDuke, Yaku Perez, adrienne maree brown, Jeffrey Gibson, Bill McKibben, David Zilber, Chris Martin, Sky Hopinka, Alfredo Jaar, Rindon Johnson, Daniel Arnold, Amy Goodman, and many others.
